Installation of Vasa's new support structure begins
Briefly

The Vasa Museum has started installing a new steel support structure to prevent the 17th century warship Vasa from sagging further. The original support, installed over 60 years ago, is no longer adequate. Project leader Peter Rydebyork highlighted the need for enhanced support, using custom-made stainless steel from Alleima to ensure both strength and reduce weight. This new structure will consist of a truss forming an internal skeleton, limiting the need for invasive drilling and minimizing pressure on the ship's fragile wood as it counteracts gravity's effects.
Experts have begun putting in place a complex metal structure to support the hull, which more than 60 years after its salvage has begun to sag in the Stockholm museum.
