Charity acquires largest Norman coin hoard for the nation
Briefly

The hoard of 2,584 silver pennies, dating back to the Norman conquest, is the highest-value treasure find in England's history, valued at $5.6 million.
Only two of the seven finder metal detectorists were experienced, and it was a novice who initially unearthed the first of what would become a historic hoard.
The coins, which include pennies from both William the Conqueror and Harold II, reflect a unique insight into the era following the Norman invasion.
Despite the find's significance, the hoard was divided among the finders and landowner without the chance for archaeological excavation, losing potential historical context.
