The 2025-26 FAFSA is now broadly available. Is it ready?
Briefly

The Education Department has introduced the FAFSA for 2025-26 in a phased launch, allowing students to apply while ensuring the system can handle high traffic.
During the testing phase before the public launch, over 17,000 forms were submitted, and issues reported were minimal, thanks to rigorous testing with partner institutions.
Kiely Fletcher from UIC reported that just 3% of students faced technical issues; she called the public application process "quick and easy" without major hitches.
Some technical glitches were noted, such as address matching discrepancies, which caused frustration among users; however, the overall response from colleges has been positive.
