Provost Erika Cameron's office issued a Jan. 28 memo ending existing telework agreements for Division of Academic Affairs employees except those with approved accommodations, initially requiring five days on campus by Feb. 2, 2026. After internal objections and a contentious town hall, the schedule was revised to four days a week starting March 15, 2026, with a phased move to full in-person work by July 1. The university did not provide detailed answers about policy scope. Union leaders called the clampdown harmful to morale and warned roughly half of local members could feel the effects. Employees cited childcare, commute costs, and retention concerns.
