The State Examinations Commission (SEC) announced a record entry of over 140,000 candidates for the 2025 state certificate examinations, marking a 3% increase from the previous year. This growth includes a 5% rise in Leaving Cert entries and an 11% rise in Leaving Cert Applied candidates. Education Minister Helen McEntee provided encouragement to students facing these significant exams across more than 800 centers, indicating the importance of their hard work. The exams, involving the distribution of four million papers, began today, with specific dates for different qualification tracks.
