The Adult Learner Community and Connections Program at Wichita State University aims to assist adult learners as they transition back into education. Launched in 2024, the program includes eight modules of self-paced online content to support these students during their first term. With a significant portion being first-generation college students, the university focuses on inclusive, age-friendly education. Over 2,200 adult learners and 1,600 online learners are enrolled, receiving tailored support to address their unique challenges in higher education.
At Wichita State University, our adult learners come from various backgrounds. We know that two-thirds of our adult learners are first-generation college students. Our focus is on how to support learners of all ages, including adult learners of all ages.
Returning to the classroom can be challenging, particularly for first-generation students or those who haven't been in school for a while. The Adult Learner Community and Connections Program provides eight modules of self-paced online content designed to assist them in their first term.
