More than 100,000 people gathered in Lund to attend the student-run Lundakarnevalen, organized every four years. Nearly 9,000 students took part, and the event is considered one of Sweden’s largest volunteer-led carnivals. The main procession, first organized in 1849, was the top event during the carnival days. The carnival drew visitors over Friday to Sunday and benefited from warm, sunny weather. Police reported the overall atmosphere was peaceful, though some attendees became too intoxicated due to the weather. Lundakarnevalen’s turnover was just over 40 million kronor in 2022, and this year was expected to be roughly similar. The next carnival will be in 2030.
"More than 100,000 people visited the carnival, which also enjoyed warm and sunny weather, reported local news. Lund University was founded in 1666 and is one of the biggest universities in the Nordics. "The general impression is that there were more visitors this year than last time. Overall, it has been peaceful, but the warm weather has contributed to a few people getting rather too tipsy," police spokesperson Patric Fors told TT."

"Last time around, in 2022, Lundakarnevalen had a turnover of just over 40 million kronor, and this year's edition which ran from Friday to Sunday was expected to turn over roughly the same amount. The carnival is organised once every four years, so the next chance to attend one will be in 2030."
