Brown University has decided not to divest from 10 companies associated with Israel's military, following a lengthy student activism campaign and committee review.
The University's Advisory Committee on University Resources Management found that indirect investments in these companies are negligible, totaling only 0.009 percent of the endowment.
ACURM concluded that divesting from such a small amount would only symbolize a political statement, rather than fulfill their mandate to avoid political bias.
This decision adds to a history of similar outcomes at Brown, where previous committees have also rejected student-led divestment proposals regarding Israel.
