Colleges and universities are facing significant challenges such as declining enrollments, equity gaps, and issues related to student belonging, particularly impacting first-generation and regional students. The ACCESS framework was developed to address these complex issues by organizing strategies into a cohesive model. It comprises six pillars: affinity, community, career, early alert, support, and storytelling, aimed at fostering student success from recruitment through graduation. By integrating these pillars, the framework seeks to overcome fragmentation in current programs and create a unified, student-centered strategy for improved outcomes.
The pressures on colleges and universities are intense due to declining enrollments, equity gaps, and concerns about student belonging, particularly among first-generation and regional student populations.
The ACCESS framework integrates six core pillars: affinity, community, career, early alert, support, and storytelling, creating a holistic approach to student success.
