The recent email directive from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) requiring federal workers, especially from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), to report weekly accomplishments has generated significant frustration and anxiety. With around 2,400 VA staff members recently terminated, including 1,400 in one day, employees express concern regarding the impact of these directives on their work environment and veteran care. Some staff members describe the communications as lacking proper context and likening them to scams, further adding to the uncertainty and stress within the agency.
"So many people have no clue how this is impacting us. We spend a lot of time managing our staff's emotions with each OPM email. I fear people will begin to resign and then our veterans are the ones who will suffer."
"It has been nonstop since January 20. The OPM's directives have created a high level of uncertainty and stress within a department tasked with providing critical services for the nation's veterans."
