As a former Clackamas County Commission chair, I understand how vital hospitals are to communities, but we must acknowledge the financial pressures they face.
The costs of delivering healthcare increasingly exceed the payments and reimbursements from insurers and Medicare, threatening the viability of our hospitals.
If we do not make changes, we risk losing critical services and potentially facing hospital closures, similar to what Eugene has experienced.
