DVLA's licence backlog: tech, staff, bots to fix it
""Introducing a modern casework system was essential, but it required investment, experienced staff input and training.""
""I am sorry to all those who have been impacted by the delays. We are going to put things right - we are putting things right.""
""Unless someone chases their MP, many medical check license applications get stuck in the system, requiring help from MPs.""
The DVLA has introduced a modern casework system to address delays in processing medical driving license applications, which averaged 71.4 working days in February. The new system, developed by Kerv Communications using Microsoft Dynamics 365, employs decision trees for efficiency. An online portal was launched for reporting medical conditions and applying for licenses. The average processing time for medical cases improved to 56.6 working days in April. The DVLA has also increased staffing to manage the workload more effectively.
