Why you shouldn't sit on the toilet for more than 10 minutes
Briefly

"People should spend an average of five to 10 minutes on the john, but staying longer can lead to health issues like hemorrhoids and blood circulation problems," said Dr. Farah Monzur.
"The open oval-shaped toilet seat compresses the buttocks, which keeps the rectum lower than sitting on a couch. This increased pressure can negatively affect blood circulation," explained Dr. Lai Xue.
"When patients present with complaints, often one of the main areas we explore is their extended time spent in the bathroom," stated Dr. Lai Xue regarding the negative effects of prolonged sitting.
Dr. Xue warns, 'Staying too long on the toilet can cause veins surrounding the lower rectum to become swollen, which can result in hemorrhoids,' indicating a serious health risk.
