
Warm “tropical nights” in the UK may tempt people to sleep nude, but experts recommend pyjamas to stay cooler and less sweaty. Sleeping nude is not inherently less hygienic, yet it may dirty bedding more in hot weather. Dr Faheem Latheef of the British Association of Dermatologists says natural-fabric sleepwear such as cotton, bamboo, or silk can absorb sweat and keep it away from the skin longer. Social media users report mixed personal experiences, including sweating changes with age and overheating from skin-to-skin contact.
"Dr Faheem Latheef, of the British Association of Dermatologists, told the Daily Mail: 'Loose, well-ventilated sleepwear made from natural fabrics such as cotton, bamboo or silk may help absorb sweat and keep it away from the skin longer during warm weather.'"
