Norovirus is responsible for 58% of foodborne illnesses in the United States, with around 2,500 outbreaks occurring annually.
Outbreaks are most common from November to April and can spread through direct contact or contaminated food and surfaces.
Most people infected with norovirus experience symptoms within 12 to 48 hours and typically recover fully within one to three days.
