Mole Mobile, created by Melanoma Canada, offers convenient skin cancer screenings to address long wait times for dermatologist appointments. The clinic is touring Canada, with stops in various provinces, including Toronto. This year, it operates in partnership with the Canadian Dermatology Association. Statistics indicate melanoma is a growing concern, being the seventh most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canada. Many individuals like Angelo DeJesis appreciate the service, highlighting the difficulty of accessing dermatological care due to waiting lists and availability issues.
Angelo DeJesis, of Toronto, stopped by the Mole Mobile to get a mole on his foot checked. 'I think it's one of those things that you just tend to ignore...so let's just get it checked out, see what it's about,' he said.
Dr. Maria Theresa Torok, a dermatologist working with Mole Mobile, noted, 'I have been thanked multiple times this morning. I've seen many people who have regular dermatologists and unfortunately...they have not been able to get an appointment.'
