"If you can identify and detect changes in the brain that could lead to these psychiatric emergencies [using this method], then you could identify people who may need intervention," said Sabunciyan.
"It's basically a way of cells communicating," Sabunciyan explained. "We can actually use this information to understand what the brain is trying to say in the context of psychiatric emergencies."
