HIV fertility rights, explained
Briefly

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act was approved in October, allowing people living with HIV in the UK to donate eggs or sperm to their partners, advancing equity in fertility treatments.
Adam Freedman from the National AIDS Trust highlighted that the law's change realizes the dreams of those living with HIV who previously feared they could never parent biologically linked children.
Freedman pointed out the previous ban had prevented access to fertility treatments for the majority of people living with HIV, causing unfair limitations on their family-building options.
The stigma surrounding HIV was a major barrier, with assumptions made about individuals with the disease being 'dirty' or 'diseased,' which the updated law aims to correct.
