"COVID keeps us guessing, so it's hard to predict when and how long the winter surge will be," said Dr. Joanna Locke, highlighting the unpredictability of future COVID-19 surges.
"It's important for everyone to stay up to date. My kids and I will be getting our new vaccine, but if you're over 65, have never been vaccinated before, are pregnant, or planning to become pregnant, or are at higher risk... those are the groups... to stay up to date," emphasized Locke.
The FDA has approved three updated COVID vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Novavax ahead of the expected winter spike, specifically targeting the KP.2 variant currently circulating.
Starting at the end of September, U.S. households will be able to order up to four free COVID-19 tests again, continuing efforts to provide resources amid rising cases.
