Candy and snack recall, FDA update: List of products that may be contaminated with salmonella
Briefly

Class I recall is the FDA's most serious category, reserved for products that pose a risk of serious health consequences or death. This classification was confirmed on August 6, months after the initial recall notice.
Although rare, salmonella can sometimes result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and 'producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.'
