Barbers to test blood pressure to fight inequality
Briefly

The project aims to tackle undiagnosed health issues among black and Asian men by conducting free blood pressure tests in barber shops, raising awareness and potentially saving lives.
Prof Nicola Thomas stated, 'We are pleased that barbers will once again offer testing to their customers to find out if they have high blood pressure and then give advice about how to reduce it.'
Shawon Gonzales highlighted the importance of these health interventions, explaining that barbershops are unique community hubs, where men are comfortable discussing health issues.
According to the ONS, roughly half of men with high blood pressure are undiagnosed, emphasizing the significance of easily accessible testing locations like barber shops.
