Aberdeen Football Club has withdrawn its application for a temporary alcohol licence to host a pre-match fan zone outside Pittodrie Stadium, aimed at enhancing fan engagement.
The application, lodged ahead of the St Johnstone fixture, would have allowed the sale of alcohol but was ultimately withdrawn due to ongoing restrictions in Scottish football.
Scottish football is governed by the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 1980, which prohibits alcohol sales in football grounds, except in corporate hospitality areas.
A spokesperson for the Scottish government stated there are no plans to change the existing ban on alcohol sales at Scottish football matches.
