2 dead from West Nile virus in New Jersey, health officials say

This year, two individuals in New Jersey have succumbed to West Nile virus, specifically older adults from Cumberland and Mercer Counties, according to state health officials.
Six new cases of West Nile virus have been reported across various counties, the patients all over the age of 50, and seven of the eight individuals hospitalized.
Health officials are also monitoring three blood donors in Bergen, Passaic, and Somerset counties who tested positive for West Nile virus but showed no symptoms.
Alongside West Nile virus concerns, there has also been a reported case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) involving a teenager hospitalized in Atlantic County.
