At Salone del Mobile 2025, Maja Ganszyniec reintroduces the B-621 chair, a design by Marian Sigmund from the 1950s, under Paged Furniture's new collection, Heritage. This project highlights the importance of 'design archaeology' to reinterpret forgotten designs while adapting them to contemporary needs. The collection comprises a dining chair and a lounge chair, preserving Sigmund's ergonomic style while updating proportions and materials to suit modern-day use and sustainability goals. Thus, Ganszyniec honors the legacy of Polish design and addresses current consumer needs.
'Our new product is somewhat like an afterimageâwe know the author, but we are working from a ghostly trace,' says Ganszyniec. 'This work is truly design archaeology.'
'Today's society differs from the post-war oneâwe are taller, broader, and live differently,' explains Ganszyniec. 'We've changed the proportions accordingly and reduced the environmental footprint by limiting foam and offering an unupholstered base version.'
