Artist Spotlight: Mark Stebbins
Briefly

I think of my painting process as a form of conceptual layering in which I combine and rearrange various references, attempting to find crossovers between various art and craft histories. I'm interested in art as a form of storytelling labour and I want my works to register as a human rather than mechanical product.
Compositions that feel odd and slightly unstable intrigue me, and I frequently aim for forms that blend and merge, resist simple interpretation and defy first impressions.
