The Booooooom Art & Photo Book Award supports turning creative projects into real printed books and zines. More than 20 projects have been produced in recent years, showcasing community creativity, design, personal stories, and unique visions. The 2026 award deadline is approaching, and submissions are invited for projects that creators want to publish. Printing is provided completely for free, while design, creative direction, and layout are chosen by the creator. Guidance is available, but the final book or zine remains fully owned and controlled by the creator, who can sell, distribute, give away, or keep it. Optional upgrades like foil, dust jackets, or extra copies may add cost. Examples include Cleo Peng’s Can you ____ me? and Adri Tan’s Wa Leng Wa Hor.
"The 2026 Booooooom Art & Photo Book Award closes very soon. If you have a project you've been wanting to turn into a book or zine, we'd love to see it. This is a unique opportunity to have your project printed completely for free. The design, creative direction, and layout are up to you. We're happy to offer guidance along the way, but the final book or zine is 100% yours to do with as you choose."
"You can sell it, distribute it, give it away, hide it, put it in a time capsule, or do whatever else feels right to you. We always have people ask if they can print more copies or upgrade certain details, and yes, you absolutely can. Some selected artists choose to add things like foil, dust jackets, or extra copies, which would be an additional cost, but it's entirely optional and not required."
"Every year, we're blown away by the creativity of our community: the ideas, the design, the personal stories, and the completely unique visions people bring to their projects. Getting to hold these books and zines in real life is one of the best parts of the award."
"Cleo Peng is an emerging Chinese artist and illustrator, whose career began during the pandemic, after graduating from The New School in 2020. In her book, Can you ____ me?, Peng examines the relationship of humans, the city, and nature."
