Jonathan Kuminga is recovering from a six-week absence due to an ankle sprain and recently participated in a five-on-five scrimmage, marking a crucial step in his rehabilitation. Though he is ruled out for the remainder of the Warriors' homestand, coach Steve Kerr emphasized the importance of Kuminga's return to live game situations, especially since the team's upcoming schedule doesn't allow for additional scrimmages. Prior to his injury, Kuminga had been averaging 16.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, with plans for him to come off the bench upon his return.
With all the games that we have we don't have a scrimmage set on our schedule for the next week. So all of the live work he's going to get is going have to be done (in other settings).
So far so good, Kerr said before tipoff Sunday afternoon against the Mavericks. He's progressing each day.
