All-time NBA 3-point leader Steph Curry will battle WNBA star and Walnut Creek native Sabrina Ionescu in a 3-point shooting contest during All-Star weekend in Indianapolis on Feb. 17, the league announced Tuesday.
During the 2023 WNBA All-Star 3-point contest, New York Liberty star Ionescu scored a record 37 points (25-of-27 shooting) to break Curry's record of 31. After breaking the record, Ionescu challenged Curry to go head-to-head.
While the rules stipulate that Ionescu will be shooting from the WNBA 3-point line, which is 1 foot and 9 inches closer to the basket than the NBA 3-point line, Ionescu said on social media she would like to step back and shoot from the NBA 3-point line during the contest.
