Less than a week before the rookie contract extension deadline, Jonathan Kuminga and the Warriors aren't close to striking a deal, but discussions are ongoing.
Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. has described talks about an extension for Kuminga as productive; however, a substantial offer is yet to be made.
The Warriors' strategy focuses on optionality, meaning extending players could hinder potential trades, as it would make them 'poison-pilled'.
Dunleavy stressed that not reaching an extension doesn't preclude Kuminga from being part of the team's future, as both players are valued.
