Germany's recent draft law aims to address the recruitment struggle in the Bundeswehr by compelling young men to express their interest in military service without reinstating conscription.
The newly proposed survey would target around 300,000 boys turning 18 next year. The aim is to entice more young individuals to consider joining the military.
Before the abolishment of compulsory military service in 2011, young men were required to fulfill either military or social service, ensuring a steadier influx of recruits.
With current military personnel at about 180,000, Germany is aiming for 203,000 active soldiers by 2030 amidst rising tensions with Russia, alongside increasing reservists.
