Austrian centrist parties reach deal to form government without far right
Briefly

Five months post-elections, Austria's centrist parties—the OVP, SPO, and Neos—have successfully formed a coalition government, sidelining the far-right Freedom Party (FPO) that led in elections. This coalition, initiated after a previous failed attempt, introduced a comprehensive 200-page program aimed at rejuvenating the struggling economy and reducing the budget deficit. The OVP leadership emphasized the arduous task of collaboration amidst rising political tensions and pressing national issues, including the ramifications of the Ukraine conflict. With leadership roles to be clarified soon, this agreement brings to an end a prolonged period of political uncertainty.
Christian Stocker, the OVP leader, emphasized that collaborative efforts among the OVP, SPO, and Neos were crucial to form a stable government, addressing Austria's pressing economic issues.
After much deliberation, the coalition concluded with a 200-page programme focused on reviving Austria's economy and managing budgetary constraints while mitigating the risks posed by the far-right.
