Germany's Interior Minister Nancy Faeser is set to unveil key migration statistics reflecting her policy reforms aimed at easing skilled migration while tightening deportation measures. The report is expected to highlight the increased influx of qualified workers due to changes in immigration laws and a rise in deportations. Simultaneously, the IG Metall union has declared strikes across auto repair garages to enhance pressure for higher wages, affecting services for car repair and maintenance across the country. This coincides with an ongoing debate about the state of the coalition government and its policies.
Starting on April 1st, IG Metall has called on employees in the automotive industry to strike nationwide in order to increase the pressure in ongoing wage negotiations.
During Faeser's tenure, Germany also brought in stricter deportation policies and expanded border controls to dampen irregular migration.
