Storm causes disruption to ferry services in northern Germany
"Gedser-Rostock: Departures cancelled due to weather on 04-05 October. Last departures Saturday 18:00 from both ports. All departures on the route Sunday 05.10.2025 are cancelled."
"Due to extreme flooding, we will not be operating as scheduled on Sunday. Further weather-related schedule adjustments are possible,"
Severe storms and predicted flooding disrupted ferry services across northern Germany, prompting cancellations and schedule changes on Sunday. The Rostock–Gedser Baltic crossing was fully cancelled for 05 October, with normal departures scheduled to resume early Monday. Operators recommended alternative routes such as Rødby–Puttgarden where available. Several North Sea ferry links, including services between Dagebüll and the islands Amrum and Föhr, saw cancellations or alterations, and services to the Halligen and Sylt were suspended or interrupted. Authorities warned of storm surges up to two metres and gusts near 85 km/h, and operators warned that further weather-related adjustments and extra evening departures might follow.
