MAN and unions agree MAN2030+ plan: 1bn for Germany, new Eastern Europe investments and job guarantees until 2035 - Sustainable Bus
"MAN Truck & Bus SE has formalized a long-term restructuring and investment framework with its works council and IG Metall, positioning the manufacturer for what it describes as sustained competitiveness amid structural shifts in the commercial vehicle industry. The agreement, laid out in a jointly adopted key issues paper, defines the industrial, financial and workforce parameters of the "MAN2030+" program."
"Under the agreement, all MAN production sites in Germany-Munich, Nuremberg, Salzgitter and Wittlich-are secured. By the end of 2030, MAN intends to invest almost one billion euros across these locations, with the majority of funds directed toward its Bavarian plants, the company states. The investments are aimed at making facilities "future-proof", particularly in relation to electrification, vehicle automation and digital technologies."
MAN Truck & Bus formalized a long-term restructuring and investment framework with its works council and IG Metall, establishing the MAN2030+ program. The plan pairs approximately €900 million in cost reductions by 2028 with almost €1 billion in capital expenditure across German production sites by 2030, primarily directed to Bavarian plants. All German sites—Munich, Nuremberg, Salzgitter and Wittlich—are secured through 2035. Investments will focus on electrification, vehicle automation and digital technologies to future-proof facilities. The framework provides extended employment guarantees domestically while acknowledging that next-generation TRATON Modular System vehicles and potential battery production will require further investment outside Germany.
