In 2024, the Anti-Discrimination Agency in Germany saw a surge in complaints, underlining the persistent challenges of racism, sexism, and disability discrimination. Notably, incidents of racism accounted for nearly half of all complaints, with over 3,800 reports. Ferda Ataman, the Federal Anti-Discrimination Commissioner, pointed out the disproportionate penalties for parking violations compared to discrimination. However, she also noted that the increase in reports reflects a growing awareness of rights among citizens, as they become more willing to confront discrimination.
