Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar and German counterpart Johann Wadephul met in Berlin to discuss ongoing tensions in Gaza and Israeli settlement activities. Wadephul promised more arms support for Israel despite international calls for a weapons embargo. He criticized Israel's actions in Gaza and urged for unrestricted humanitarian aid to the region. Saar proposed the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation as an alternative aid distributor, suggesting it could alleviate civilian suffering while limiting Hamas's influence. Both ministers acknowledged their positions on Palestinian statehood and emphasized the need for negotiated peace.
"This effort has the potential to free the Palestinian population from Hamas's stranglehold and end this war," Saar said, emphasizing the need for aid distribution alternatives.
Wadephul criticized Israel's actions while affirming Germany's commitment to support Israel's right to defend itself against Hamas and confirmed military assistance.
