Public transport workers in six German states are set to strike after unsuccessful wage negotiations. The trade union Verdi is demanding an 8% wage increase and more time off for employees, citing staffing shortages that are exacerbating workload challenges. The strike will involve around 53,000 employees and impact about 70 municipal transport companies. This labor action comes alongside separate strikes in other areas, notably Berlin, where workers will also walk off the job in response to distinct wage-related disputes, further highlighting systemic issues within the sector.
