More than 300 police officers were involved in raids across five German states, primarily in Jena and Thuringia, targeting a suspected people-smuggling ring.
The operation uncovered that at least 140 individuals were smuggled into Germany since December 2022, with the arrested suspects comprising Syrian and Iraqi nationals.
Investigations revealed that the alleged smuggling group consisted of individuals aged 23 to 57, with varying roles from drivers to those involved in organizational aspects.
The aim of the police raids was to gather evidence, specifically targeting documents, electronic devices, and cash, to substantiate the crimes being investigated.
