Germany faces threats from extremists, Russia and China DW 06/18/2024
Briefly

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser stressed the need to actively defend the country's democracy and highlighted the ongoing threat posed by far-right elements, espionage activities by Russia and China, and the antisemitic tendencies within the Islamist scene.
Faeser opposed banning the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, despite its classification as a 'suspected case of far-right extremism.' BfV President Thomas Haldenwang warned of a significant level of threats, particularly citing the rising risk of extremist Islamist attacks after recent events. He noted the heightened danger from jihadi terrorists and radicalized lone wolves, with the conflict in Gaza fueling antisemitism in Germany as well.
