Men who appeared to be part of the singer's security team interrupted the interview, kicked a camera, verbally abused him and then physically attacked him; Alkhaled described the beating as professional and terrifying. Alkhaled possesses video footage of the incident. Police and state prosecutors are carrying out an investigation into unknown men suspected of malicious injury and defamation, and authorities have declined or not yet provided public comment. The incident drew widespread condemnation from officials and press freedom groups.
