Bremen has launched a fleet of 50 new battery-electric articulated buses, transitioning towards sustainable public transport. The newly modernized Blumenthal depot, now the first fully electric bus depot in Germany, serves 90 lines in Bremen-Nord. This fleet expansion includes 35 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro units and 15 Irizar ie bus 18 vehicles, raising the total electric bus count to 70. The overall investment of 96 million euros aims at complete electrification by 2035, accompanied by comprehensive driver training and infrastructure improvements to support this transition.
