""I've never experienced anything like this before, he told the newspaper. "I thought we were on 'Candid Camera'."
""If they had run to the right toward the fruit and vegetables God forbid you wouldn't have been able to get them out," the newspaper quoted Kippes as saying."
""We tried to push them out, but it didn't work," Kippes said."
"He suspects that "someone probably ran into the supermarket with a bag and then they followed," with the animals perhaps mistaking bags for feed or a bag of salt."
Around 50 sheep wandered into a Penny supermarket in Burgsinn, Bavaria, after straying from their flock. The animals lingered among shelves and the checkout area for about 20 minutes, creating a mess and briefly disrupting the store. Store manager Jurgen Kippes initially thought it was a prank and described attempts to push the flock out as ineffective. An employee banging the cash register startled the sheep, which exited through the sliding door into the parking lot. The shepherd suggested acorns or a person with a bag may have distracted the flock. The store cleaned up, declined compensation, and offered to sponsor the sheep for a year.
