Fortnite-maker raising in-game currency prices 'to help pay the bills'

"Epic Games says it is raising the price of Fortnite's in-game currency, V-Bucks, to help pay the bills because the cost of running the game had gone up a lot. The developer announced that from 19 March the price of V-Bucks will increase, while bonus currency rewards will also be removed from the game's main battle pass."

Epic Games announced a price increase for Fortnite's in-game currency, V-Bucks, citing increased operational costs. Starting March 19, players will receive fewer V-Bucks per purchase across all price tiers, with reductions ranging from 200 to 1,000 V-Bucks depending on the package. The Crew membership monthly V-Bucks allocation will decrease from 1,000 to 800. Bonus currency rewards from the battle pass will be eliminated. However, Epic is offsetting some impact by reducing battle pass prices by 200 V-Bucks and lowering the main battle pass cost from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks. This marks the first V-Bucks price increase since Fortnite's 2017 launch. The move reflects broader industry trends of rising development costs and inflation affecting gaming companies.
