"YouTube TV is getting ready to launch two major updates that will allow you to watch multiple non-sports channels simultaneously, as well as choose from 10 new paid plans focused on a range of topics, including sports, entertainment, and news. In his annual letter to users, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan says both of these changes will arrive "soon." YouTube TV has been slowly expanding its multiview feature over the past few years."
"It introduced multiview for sports broadcasts in 2023 before expanding it to news, weather, and business programming - but only for preselected channels. The platform later started testing the ability for users to customize their multiview experience with a "small group of popular channels." Now, Mohan says multiview will be "fully customizable," which means you should be able to watch your favorite football team play alongside something completely different."
"Mohan adds that YouTube TV will also roll out a series of plans "designed to give subscribers more control." YouTube first announced these genre-specific plans in December, and it sounds like they could offer access to a smaller subset of channels that you'll actually watch, rather than paying for access to YouTube TV's entire lineup. The YouTube TV Sports plan, for example, will include access to "major broadcasters" and sports networks like FS1, NBC Sports Network, ESPN networks, and ESPN's streaming service."
YouTube TV will introduce fully customizable multiview, enabling viewers to watch multiple non-sports channels at once. The multiview feature previously expanded from sports into news, weather, and business but was limited to preselected channels and early tests with a small group. YouTube TV will also launch ten new paid, genre-specific plans that target topics like sports, entertainment, and news, giving subscribers access to smaller channel subsets. The Sports plan will include major broadcasters and networks such as FS1, NBC Sports Network, ESPN channels, and ESPN's streaming service. Pricing and exact launch dates have not been disclosed beyond a planned early-year rollout.
