"It's a valid worry, given that we're accustomed to the battery in our smartphones and tablets wearing out after a few years of use. And if you think it's an expensive hassle to get your iPhone battery replaced, these costs pale in comparison to fitting a new battery in an EV (Electric Vehicle). The battery itself can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $25,000, with labor costs adding another $1,000 to $3,000 to the bill."
"The average battery health -- which is a percentage worked out as the current usable capacity divided by the original capacity, multiplied by 100 -- was a very strong 95.15%. An EV battery is considered unfit for use when the health drops below 70%, a lower bar than the consumer electronics limit of around 80%."
A UK firm specializing in EV battery diagnostics analyzed 8,000 cars and vans across 36 vehicle makes, ages 0–12 years and mileages up to more than 160,000 miles. Average battery health measured 95.15% (usable capacity divided by original capacity). EV batteries are typically considered unfit below 70% health, compared with consumer electronics around 80%. Median battery capacity for vehicles aged eight to nine years remained above 85%. Typical manufacturer warranty coverage is around 100,000 miles or eight years. Complete battery replacement parts can cost $5,000–$25,000, with labor adding approximately $1,000–$3,000.
