A new mod for the Nintendo Switch Lite, the SUPER5 OLED Touch HDMI, enhances the original device with an OLED display, glass touchscreen, and HDMI output. This no-solder mod only requires connecting cables and can deliver 1080p video to larger screens. The mod follows the previous SUPER5 OLED version but adds HDMI capability after a significant development effort of 18 months, involving many revisions and high costs. Current testing includes gameplay demonstrations, but the upgrade kits are sold out with uncertain shipping timelines for preorders.
I can't describe how soul-crushing it was to go through so many failed revisions. After the third failure, I was hopeful every subsequent version would be successful, but they weren't.
Adding the extra feature proved to be a serious challenge, according to the company's co-founder, who said the project took 18 months of R&D, just as many failed revisions, and more than $200K in costs.
