"The best compliment I could ever lay at the feet of any game streaming service is that I can forget I was even using it. Nvidia's GeForce Now service, which lets players run their own game library through the cloud, is better than ever with its most recent update. As a bonus, Nvidia's $20-per-month Ultimate subscription doesn't cost any more than it did previously, unlike TV streaming's constant price gouging."
"As much as that sounds like a good deal, let's remember who is making use of cloud gaming in the first place. Gamers running systems that can't play today's AAA games, whether they're not powerful enough or incompatible altogether, can instead stream the game to their system for the cost of two large artisan coffees each month. That hasn't changed with the update, but now PC players with a Steam backlog may be able to play far more games using Nvidia's new Install-to-Play feature."
Nvidia's GeForce Now update upgrades some games to use a better GPU, reduces server latency, and improves graphics and resolution options. The $20-per-month Ultimate subscription retains its price while offering features like a cinematic graphics mode, 90Hz support on Steam Deck, and an Install-to-Play feature for Steam libraries. Streaming enables players with underpowered or incompatible systems to access AAA titles without new hardware. Performance uplift varies by game and visuals cannot match native PC quality. Multiplayer experiences remain poor, and multi-frame generation provides limited benefit over streaming despite enabling very high framerates in some titles.
