Latest Samsung Galaxy S26 series rumor brings good news for potential buyers
"Some flagships launched in 2025 were considerably more expensive than their predecessors, and the story won't be different with the phones launching this year, either, due to rising component costs, among other factors. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 series was also expected to get a price hike, but if the latest rumor coming out of South Korea is to be believed, that won't be the case."
"A South Korean publication reports that Samsung has decided to launch the Galaxy S26 series at the same price as the Galaxy S25 lineup to avoid losing market share to Apple and other Chinese smartphone companies. However, this price freeze applies only to the US; prices in other markets, including Samsung's home country, South Korea, could be higher. The base models of the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra were launched in the US at $799, $999, and $1,299, respectively."
Flagship smartphone prices rose in 2025 due to increasing component costs, prompting expectations of further price hikes for 2026 launches. Samsung will launch the Galaxy S26 series in the US at the same base prices as the S25 lineup to avoid losing market share to Apple and Chinese competitors. The US price freeze excludes other markets, where prices including in South Korea could be higher. The Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8 will also retain predecessor pricing. Some Galaxy A Series models will debut with higher prices. The S26 lineup is expected to be unveiled on February 25 in San Francisco, US, and the foldables in July.
