"Hewlett-Packard's business division has long been a mainstay of the company, but with the business world rapidly changing to include new mobile systems and adapt to the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) style of IT, opportunity abounds for new solutions. HP is all over it, announcing several new devices today, ranging from a slim detachable hybrid, an 8-inch Windows tablet built for professionals, and several new takes on the existing HP ElitePad 1000 G2 that gears up the tablet for unique work environments."
"The tablet features an Intel Core M processor, allowing for a slim, fanless design without a significant sacrifice in processing power. That productive capability is backed up further with optional vPro for simple fleet management and security, Windows 8.1 Pro for full software support, 8GB of RAM, and solid state storage from 128GB up to 512GB. A microSD card slot lets you add extra local storage, while a microSIM slot supports 4G LTE mobile broadband."
"The docking keyboard features a spill-resistant chiclet keyboard (with backlight), two USB 3.0 ports, and a mini DisplayPort. The docking keyboard also has a second battery, which extends the usable life of the tablet up to a total of 20 hours. To prevent the wobbly issues seen in many top-heavy detachable hybrids, HP has designed the docking keyboard with something it calls a reflex hinge, which functions sort of like wheelie bars on a race car, preventing that backwards wobble with extra support."
HP offers new enterprise mobile devices, led by the Elite x2 1011 G1 detachable hybrid and an 8-inch professional Windows tablet. The Elite x2 pairs an 11.6-inch Windows tablet with an attachable keyboard dock. The tablet uses an Intel Core M processor for a slim, fanless design and supports optional vPro, Windows 8.1 Pro, up to 8GB RAM, and 128–512GB solid-state storage. It includes microSD and microSIM slots for expandable storage and 4G LTE connectivity, plus an optional Wacom digitizer. The docking keyboard has a spill-resistant backlit chiclet keyboard, two USB 3.0 ports, a mini DisplayPort, and a second battery extending runtime to 20 hours. A reflex hinge prevents backward wobble, and lighter keyboard cover and wireless dock options exist.
