"All you need to do to claim your free router is click the link in their email and answer a one-question survey. You don't even need to return your old router. As long as you set up your Router Mini with the same SSID network name and password you had for your Gen 1 router, all of your devices will reconnect automatically."
"Your older Starlink dish may stop working today - unless you update it this way "In November 2025, Starlink began emailing customers using the Gen 1 Router to let them know that software updates for this hardware will be discontinued in the near future," Starlink said. "To make this transition seamless, Starlink is providing affected customers with a complimentary Router Mini.""
SpaceX is ending software updates for the Gen 1 Starlink router and will provide affected long-term subscribers with a complimentary Router Mini. The Gen 1 device will continue to operate but may lack long-term security, performance, and reliability, so upgrading is strongly recommended. Customers receive an email with a link and a single-question survey to claim the free Router Mini; no return of the old router is required. Setting the Router Mini to the same SSID and password as the Gen 1 router restores device connections automatically. The Router Mini supports Wi‑Fi 6, meshes with Starlink systems, covers about 1,300 square feet, and supports up to 128 devices.
